Board and Supervisory Committee Applications

USC Credit Union is seeking qualified candidates interested in serving as volunteer members of the credit union’s Board of Directors or Supervisory Committee.

Under the guidance of our member-elected Board, your member-owned, not-for-profit, democratically controlled cooperative has provided exceptional value and service to the Trojan Family since 1973. Each year the terms of at least three positions on the nine-member Board of Directors and one position on the five-member Supervisory (i.e., Audit) Committee expire.

If you would like to be considered for a position on our Board or Supervisory Committee, please consider volunteering as a member of our Official Family. An important consideration and qualification for the position is the willingness to volunteer time to serve USC Credit Union and its members.

Eligibility

To be considered for a position on USCCU’s Board or Supervisory Committee position, you must:

  • Be eighteen (18) years of age
  • Be a “member in good standing” of USC Credit Union
  • Submit a letter of interest, resume, and the enclosed USC Credit Union Statement of Consent

Meeting Requirements

Candidates for positions on the Board or Supervisory Committee must be able to attend all regular meetings as well as the meetings of any sub-committees to which they may be assigned. Meetings are generally held at the USC Credit Union headquarters at 3720 S. Flower St, Los Angeles, CA. Attendance via live video conference may also be available.

Compensation

USC Credit Union Board and Committee members receive no compensation for their services.

A volunteer Board of Directors serves as the governing body of the USC Credit Union. The Board establishes the credit union’s strategic plan and oversees general operations on behalf of the members. Responsibilities include:

  • Approving policies and programs that guide the credit union
  • Planning for the current and future needs of members
  • Ensuring the application of sound business practices
  • Maintaining the financial stability of the credit union
  • Representing USCCU at designated events at various times

Supervisory Committee

A volunteer Supervisory Committee serves as the Audit Committee of the credit union. Responsibilities include:

  • Safeguarding the members’ assets
  • Ensuring the reliability and integrity of the financial and operational information
  • Complying with applicable laws and regulations
  • Fostering and evaluating enterprise risk management activities to ensure the long-term viability and success of the Credit Union

Nominations and Elections

Candidates for service on the Board and Supervisory Committee are considered by a Nominating Committee.

The Committee’s final slate of candidates will be submitted no later than August 26, 2022. Elections to the Board of Directors and Supervisory Committee will be held at the Annual Meeting on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at 5:30 pm at our Flower Street location. The elections will be conducted to fill three (3) seats on the Board of Directors for three-year terms, one (1) seat on the Board of Directors for a two-year term, and two (2) seats on the Supervisory Committee for three-year terms. If there is only one nomination for each position, the election will not be conducted by ballot.

No nominations may be made from the floor at the annual meeting; however, nominations are available by petition. At least 100 members qualified to vote must sign the petition, and it must be delivered to the USC Credit Union Board Secretary at 3720 South Flower Street, Los Angeles, CA 90089, by August 26, 2022. A statement of qualifications should accompany the petition.
