Notice of USC Credit Union Annual Meeting

The 2011 Annual Membership Meeting of the USC Credit Union is scheduled for Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at 6:00 pm in our Flower Street headquarters. All members are invited and encouraged to attend. Elections to fill the expiring terms of three (3) members of your Board of Directors and one (1) member of your Supervisory Committee will be conducted at the meeting. The terms of the three seats on the Board of Directors as well as the one seat on the Supervisory Committee will be for three (3) years. There will be no nominations from the floor. A Nominating Committee has approved the final slate of candidates below:

Kim Dietrich, PhD
is a professor of corporate finance in the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California who teaches courses in financial institution management, money and capital markets, and corporate finance.  He is the author of an innovative textbook, Financial Services and Financial Institutions: Value Creation in Theory and Practice.  Dr. Dietrich is a researcher with numerous published articles on financial institutions and markets.  He is also a former manager of the management sciences division at Continental Illinois National Bank in Chicago and a consultant to the United States Treasury during the Stock Market Crash of 1987.  Dr. Dietrich has had extensive consulting experience with financial services firms and law firms directing litigation involving financial institutions and finance concepts.  Dr. Dietrich served as Chair of USC Credit Union’s supervisory committee from 1994-1997.  Under his direction, the committee overhauled the internal audit function, implemented a more sophisticated certified external audit requirement, and developed new standards and protocols for interacting with regulators and auditors.  Since 1997, he has served on the USC Credit Union Board of Directors, serving in numerous key leadership and committee positions, utilizing his expertise in areas of financial services, management, and strategy critical to USC Credit Union’s growth and performance.

Julie G. Nyquist, PhD is a Professor in the Division of Medical Education at the University of Southern California.  She directs the Master of Academic Medicine program and was the Chair of the division’s annual Innovations in Medical Education Conference from 2003-2008. Dr. Nyquist joined the USC faculty in 1981 and serves as program evaluator for the Medical Student curriculum within the medical school and serves on multiple curriculum committees. Dr. Nyquist has given over 500 workshops/presentations on career development, teaching and leadership to a variety of the health care professions’ faculty members. From 1993 to 2001 she served as the Director of Medical Education at Kern Medical Center, a regional training center in Bakersfield, California where she was in charge of coordinating all educational activities within the medical center. In 2005 she received two honors: an Award for Excellence in Mentoring from USC and an Award for Lifetime Service and Commitment from the Academic Senate at USC. Dr. Nyquist has been a member of the Board of Directors of the USC Credit Union since 1993 and effectively served as Vice Chair of Board 2007-09.  She is also a member of the Personnel sub-committee of the board and Chairs the ALCO sub-committee since 2006.

Justin Ho has been a member of the USCCU board of directors since 2006, and has spearheaded numerous initiatives and participated in several committees during this time. He has also provided a variety of consulting services for various credit unions while working for Glatt Consulting, LLC, mostly relating to the next-generation consumer. Justin is also a frequent speaker at various credit union conferences around the nation. Justin recently spent a few years within the investment banking division of Goldman Sachs, working on several mergers / acquisitions & capital raises for large companies. He currently works at Citadel, a hedge fund, within its long / short equity portfolio.  Justin is also a proud USC alum.

Stanley “Stan” Henderson is the Director of Facilities and Support Services Division with the USC Department of Public Safety. He has previously served on the USC Staff Assembly on the Elections and Benefits & Compensation Committees. Stan has also served as an executive board member of the USC Staff Club and is a member of the Black Staff and Faculty Caucus. Stan has been a member of the USC Credit Union Supervisory Committee for over ten years and served on the USC Credit Union Building Committee. Stan has represented the USC Credit Union in Washington D.C. during the annual Governmental Affairs Conference. Stan is a Graduate of the Jimmy Ryce Law Enforcement Training Center’s Chief Executive Officer Program at the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, in Alexandria, Virginia. He holds a certificate in Management Development from the USC Marshall School of Business Executive Development Program and a certificate in Leadership Development from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Stan is a published poet and is currently writing a book on various styles of servant leadership.
