Introducing Your Mobile Wallet

A mobile wallet is a way to carry a digital version of your credit cards or debit cards on your mobile device. Instead of fumbling through your wallet (or purse) to find your card, you can pay with your smartphone, tablet, or smartwatch.

How do mobile wallets work?

  1. 1. Download the mobile wallet app (or it may be already built into your mobile device)
  2. 2. Add your credit or debit card information to the mobile wallet
  3. 3. When you check out at participating merchants, access the mobile wallet and select your card.

Securing your mobile wallet

Security is our number one priority. That’s why we advise that you look into what security the wallet provides to help protect your card information. Some mobile wallets will allow you to disable the service if your card or device is lost or stolen. Also, other mobile wallets will hide your full card number from merchants when you make purchases.

When you use your USC Credit Union card, you also get additional protections. When you log in to online banking, you can:

  • set account activity alerts and spending notifications
  • enable mobile push notifications
  • view your transactions

Choosing a mobile wallet

There are many mobile wallets to choose from. When you’re comparing features, be sure to check which merchants accept the wallet and which mobile devices are required. Some wallets even allow you to use your USC Credit Union card as your default to easily make payments.

1You can use Apple Pay on eligible iPhones, iPads, Apple Watches, and Macs (Safari browser only) using the latest operating systems. For a list of compatible devices and required operating systems, go to www.apple.com/apple-pay.
2You can use Google Pay with your NFC-enabled device running Android OS 4.4 (KitKat) or higher. When using Google Pay, your full card number is not stored on your mobile device. Please note: When attempting to add your USC Credit Union card to Google Pay, your card may be added to your Google Payments account to be used on other Google properties. This could occur even if the process of adding your card to Google Pay is not successful. Questions regarding this, go to the Google Support page for support.
3Only compatible with select cards, carriers and Samsung devices; see the Samsung Pay Support page for compatibility information and merchant terminal limitations.
